“ISLAND” Part 1.2 “Two realities” (...continued) Having left the relatively peaceful Dnieper on May 24, loaded with two tons of gum. help, we were approaching Kharkov. Approaching the city, signs of shelling from the first wave of the invasion began to appear more often: huge craters on the roads, destroyed houses, broken windows of high-rise buildings, burned out shops. In the Northern Saltovka area, at the request of my friends, we examined their apartment. The rockets that exploded in the courtyard of the residential area did not leave the windows any chance to survive. And the neighbor’s car parked at the entrance turned into a pile of metal... Hastily removing the glass from the floor, I pulled out an iron shard soldered into the linoleum... it crushed everything in its path... being red-hot, it searched for a person’s life. But God preserved... Having treated the residents of the house with bread, we continued on our way. The closer we approached to the “ISLAND”, the louder and clearer the cannonade of the confrontation was heard. By this time I had already lost the habit of this noise, but the memories that came flooding back immersed me in another reality. (To be continued)
